RSHRM Talks Virginia Employment Law with Karen Michael
2020. What. A. Year. As we head into the home stretch, I think many of us are anxious for a “fresh” start in 2021. While the challenges that we faced this year will reverberate into the future – both positively when we think about the new dialogue around social justice and, possibly negatively when we think of the long reach of the economic impact from the pandemic – one thing is for certain, we have to keep moving forward. We have to keep planning for the future. And as HR practitioners, we have to keep preparing for how work will get done, how we will attract, retain, and train our talent, and how we will keep compliant within the “ever-changing normal” (not sure we can keep calling it the “new normal”).
To help get us in the forward-mindset as we close out this year, we sat down with Karen Michael to discuss the employment law landscape for 2021. What should employers be thinking about in the new year – from returning to work practices to operationalizing the Virginia Values Act. Karen Michael is the President of Richmond-based Karen Michael, PLC, a work law & HR consulting firm founded in 2008.
